Haar collega-jazz-zangeres Dee Daniels over haar: "Deborah Brown is one of the finest jazz vocalists in the world today. In addition to her vocal "gift", she also possesses incredible technical ability, enabling her to execute her musical ideas effortlessly."

Zoals de legendarische Johnny Griffin zei: "Be it ballads or any swinging tempo, Deborah has the ability to finesse every phrase in a manner that will instantly satisfy!"

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Deborah's musical talents have propelled her from coast to coast in the USA, eventually leading her to Japan, Indonesia and the far east. Performing in nightclubs, concerts, jazz festivals, on television and radio soundstages,
Deborah Brown continues to promote the art of jazz by performing and recording her interpretations of classic standards and fresh original compositions, always expanding the musical boundaries of vocalist, musician, entertainer and band.

Jazz vocalist Deborah Brown strongly disagrees with those who hold that jazz singing is dying out. "There are some great young singers out there," says Brown. "They just need a chance to be heard". The young jazz singer is taking no chances concerning whether or not her own voice will be heard. Brown has also toured extensively throughout the continent, from coast to coast in the USA, eventually leading her to Japan, Indonesia and the far east. Performing in all the major capitols. She's now again on tour in Europe at the very best venues in Brussels (B), Luxemburg (L), Heerlen (NL) and Paris (F)!

Brown grew up in a musical family in Kansas City, Missouri, home to Charlie Parker and other Jazz luminaries. Her mother, a classical pianist, taught her to read music at a young age, and her father kept the radio tuned to the music of Thelonius Monk, Art Tatum and other jazz greats. Brown gave up an early interest in musical theater to devote herself fully to singing in her late teens, and took to the road in a cabaret act in her twenties. Deborah has made a name for herself with appearances in more than 45 countries around the world.

Deborah Brown has recorded 10 albums as a leader and has been featured on numerous other recordings as a special guest soloist. Deborah has enjoyed participating in and creating many unique musical situations. Like with trumpet star Clark Terry, Hein van de Geijn, Johnny Griffin, "Toots" Thielemans or Roy Hargrove.

Listeners have compared Brown's satin-smooth soprano to that of the young Sarah Vaughan, but her style also of her early infatuation with Nancy Wilson, and her more recent appreciation of the adventurous technique of Betty Carter. All these elements play a part in the warm, flexible instrument Deborah Brown brings to the stage. She is a not only a memorable soloist with a strong understanding of melody; she also has the ability to work as a true ensemble musician. Here is a singer who understands the essentially collaborative spirit of jazz.
