Professor Michael Baram is Director of the Center for Law and Technology at the Boston University Law School. He has researched and published extensively in different areas of the interaction between law and risk. Topics include the responsibility and liability of management for industrial safety, the clash between requirements for openness to achieve organisational and social learning and the incentives to hide information to avoid very expensive liability. He has worked extensively in the area of chemical safety, but now has a major focus on the emerging hazards of the biotechnology industry.
