DUTCH-> De wereldpianist John Beasley is weer in Nederland. Vorig seizoen trad hij in onze club op met onder meer zijn vriend, gitarist Emiel van Egdom. Dit keer presenteren we de voormalige pianist van Sergio Mendes, Freddie Hubbard en Miles Davis met een uniek solo concert! In twee of drie sets belicht hij het gehele spectrum van zijn Kunsten. Nieuwe stukken, maar ook stukken die op zijn eerdere cd's terug te vinden zijn, brengt hij ten gehore. Beasley speelde overigens ook op het laatste North Sea Jazz festival. John is een van de meest creatieve pianisten, toetsenisten en componisten uit Los Angeles. Een veel gevraagd begeleider in jazz en pop. Hij begeleidde zelfs de Spice Girls, Chaka Kan, Rikki Lee Jones en uiteraard: Steely Dan. Hij speelde met onder meer Chick Corea, John Patitucci en Diana Reeves. Ook solo maakt 'The Beas' zijn reputatie meer dan waar. Zijn solo cd's zijn waarachtig van een ongekende schoonheid; vandaar onze invitatie.
ENGLISH-> John Beasley played the piano in our club last year. A
wonderful concert with a.o. his friend and guitar player Emiel van
Egdom. Now he's back for a solo concert! John Beasley has climbed up the
musical beanstalk and found some golden eggs. As a keyboardist, he has
stretched his talents across different musical styles and cultures;
beginning his career ingesting Latin rhythms with Sergio Mendes;
absorbing the deep, lyrical tones of Freddie Hubbard; succumbing to
Miles Davis' genius' sense of rhythm, space and modal approach, and
harmonic & melodic structures; feasting on the soul, funk, R&B of Dianne
Reeves & Chaka Khan; embracing the folksy style of Rikki Lee Jones,
along with Barbara Streisand's highly dramatic ballad style; and
digesting the smart lyrics and music of Steely Dan. John's resume can
read like a music directory having also played with Chick Corea, John
Patitucci, Lee Ritenour and even the Spice Girls. He stays on a diverse
musical diet freelancing around L.A, New York, Europe and Asia with some
of the finest musicians. He also played at the last North Sea Jazz
