Amsterdam, The Netherlands and London, UK - Fox Kids Europe N.V. (FKE) (AMEX: FKE; Reuters: FOXK.AS; Bloomberg: FKE.NA), the leading pan-European integrated children's entertainment company, today announced the acquisition of the remaining 49.5% stake in Fox Kids Israel Enterprises B.V. from Arieh Saban's Middle East Communication Holdings B.V. (MEC). FKE now owns 100% of Fox Kids Israel Enterprises.
Fox Kids Israel Enterprises, through a wholly-owned local subsidiary, owns and operates the Fox Kids Israel pay TV channel and website. The Fox Kids Israel channel is one of the leading children's channels in Israel and is distributed by all Israeli cable and DTH operators. It is locally produced with offices in Tel Aviv.
In addition, FKE has acquired various rights to children's and family programming held by an affiliate of MEC and has also acquired all Israeli rights to the Fox Family library. These rights were previously licensed for use on the Fox Kids Israel channel. The total consideration paid by FKE under the various transactions was $20.5 million.
