Mark De Smedt Appointed Managing Director
Zürich, Switzerland - December 23, 2005: The Adecco Group, the worldwide leader in
Human Resource services, announced today the appointment of Mark De Smedt as managing
director of the Benelux countries. In this role he will also take over the current
function of Emil Broekman, who will step down at the end of 2005 as country manager of
the Netherlands. De Smedt, currently managing director for Adecco Belgium and Luxembourg,
will assume all responsibility for Adecco operations in the Netherlands, Belgium &
Luxembourg.
Broekman began his career with Adecco in 1984 and subsequently held a number of senior
management positions. In January 2003 he was appointed managing director of Adecco
Netherlands. De Smedt expressed his thanks to Broekman, saying 'Emil has been
instrumental in helping the company strengthen its position in the Dutch market and I
look forward to working with him in his new strategic accounts advisory capacity. He will
also help support the company's expansion into the HR services market'.
De Smedt joined Adecco in 2001 assuming management responsibility for Adecco's Belgium and
Luxembourg subsidiaries. In 2002, Adecco operations in Netherlands were added to his
remit. Mark age 44 resides in Brussels, Belgium.
