Zoals elk jaar is het SieboldHuis op 3 oktober gesloten wegens de viering van het Leids Ontzet.

Het laatste weekend van oktober verandert het SieboldHuis in een ware bioscoop. In het museum zullen het hele weekend Japanse films te zien zijn rondom de thema's familie en yakuza (Japanse maffia). Ook zijn er lezingen, is er elke dag sushi met een sake proeverij op zaterdag en een theeschenkerij op zondag. Dit filmweekend wordt mede georganiseerd door het Leids Film Festival en Camera Japan.

Huidige tentoonstelling

Balanceer mee op de grens van herinneringen in Nederland en Japan in de tentoonstelling Mirrored Memories. Wandelend door een driedimensionaal berglandschap met animatiefilm en tekeningen komen herinneringen aan Japanse en Nederlandse tradities boven en ontmoeten elkaar in deze tentoonstelling van Takako Hamano. Van bovenaf bekeken lijken herinneringen uit deze twee verschillende culturen helemaal niet zo anders te zijn.

Paravento Regale van Keiko Sadakane toont de historische relatie tussen Japan, Oostenrijk en Nederland. Een Japans kamerscherm (paravent) dat meegenomen is door de VOC naar Europa en onlangs ontdekt is in Slot Eggenberg in Oostenrijk, vormt de belangrijkste inspiratiebron voor Sadakane in deze tentoonstelling. De 33 messing platen geven de oude relatie weer tussen deze drie landen waarmee ze een extra dimensie toevoegt aan de Nederlands-Oostenrijkse-Japanse betrekkingen.

In verband met organisatorische en logistieke problemen is het SieboldHuis helaas genoodzaakt de aangekondigde zwaardententoonstelling van 8 t/m 11 oktober uit te stellen tot een nader te bepalen periode. Wij zullen u zo snel mogelijk op de hoogte stellen van verdere ontwikkelingen.

Tijdens dit speciale Japan@Leiden-jaar is het SieboldHuis samenwerkingsverbanden aangegaan met andere musea. Op vertoon van een toegangsbewijs van onderstaande musea krijgt u korting op een entreebewijs voor het SieboldHuis:
- Museum van Volkenkunde t/m 31 december ¤ 2,50 kortting op de gewone toegangsprijs. Niet icm andere kortingen. Deze korting geldt ook met uw kaartje van het SieboldHuis bij een bezoek aan Museum van Volkenkunde.

Nieuw dagboek Siebold online
Volg de nieuwe verhalen van Siebold in zijn online dagboek! Siebold heeft van zijn reis van Batavia naar Deshima nauwkeurig bijgehouden wat er allemaal gebeurde op het schip en om hem heen. Japanese cinema
> Friday October 30 until Sunday November 1st
The last weekend of October the SieboldHuis transforms into a real cinema. The whole weekend films around the themes 'family' and 'yakuza' (Japanese mafia) will be screened on two locations in the museum. There will be lectures and sushi in the weekend, as well as sake tasting on Saturday and tea tasting on Sunday. Do not miss out on this Japanese film weekend!
EXHIBITIONS
Takako Hamano, a Japanese living in the Netherlands, explores in her exhibitions the different living worlds of people. What are their memories and how do they reflect each other? Hamano searches in her work for the moments when the worlds of people of different cultures and with different memories meet each other to reshape their memories and bring them closer to each other.
Upcoming
In the exhibition Paravento Regale Keiko Sadakane shows works that remind us of the longstanding cultural and trade relations between Japan and Europe. A Japanese folding screen that was brought back by the VOC from Japan to Europe served as the inspiration for Sadakane in this exhibition. This exhibition connects thus very well with the 400 year anniversary of the trade relations between Japan and the Netherlands which we celebrate this year.

During this special Japan@Leiden year the SieboldHuis cooperates with other museums in Leiden. To stimulate all visitors to enjoy the other exhibitions as well, you can visit the SieboldHuis with discount on presentation of an entrance ticket of the following museums:
- With a ticket from the Museum of Ethnology until 31 December ¤2,50 discount on thhe regular entrance fee. Not in combination with other discounts. With a ticket of the SieboldHuis the Museum of Ethnology can be visited with the same discount.
Children have free entrance to the museums in Leiden -> extended until the end of this year!

Japan arrangement
Experience the ultimate feeling of Japan@Leiden with the Japan arrangement organized by City Events Leiden. First, a tea ceremony will be held on a boat on the canals of Leiden, after which you can explore more of Japan in the SieboldHuis, the Museum of Ethnology or Municipal Museum de Lakenhal.
