Guidance is een film over gewone mensen in uitzonderlijke situaties. Een middelbaar echtpaar uit de grote stad zit in de problemen: Roy is depressief heeft al een tijdje ziekteverlof en Ylva is die situatie beu. Een alternatieve therapeut komt voorbij en biedt aan om Roy te behandelen op een afgelegen boerderij. Na een dreigende echtscheiding stem Roy ermee in.
Meteen al blijkt de behandelingsmethode erg onorthodox. Namaakyoga en vernedering wordt afgewisseld met zware trainingssessies. Thuis in de stad geniet Ylva van de illusie van vrijheid, maar een telefoontje van de boerderij maakt haar bezorgd. De therapeut schiet steeds verder door, en Roy slaat op de vlucht. Daardoor hervindt hij zijn innerlijke kracht. Hij keert terug om wraak te nemen.

Guidance is a film about ordinary people in extraordinary situations. A middle-aged urban couple is having problems: Roy is depressed, has been on sick leave for some time, and Ylva is fed up with the situation. An alternative therapist shows up, and offers to treat Roy at a remote farm. After threats of divorce Roy goes, but the method immediately proves to be quite unorthodox. Fake yoga and humiliation are intermingled with tough workout sessions. Back in the city Ylva enjoys the illusion of freedom but a phone call from the farm worries her. The therapist becomes more and more bizarre and finally Roy runs away, and in so doing, finds new inner strength and returns to wreak vengeance.
