GRATIS CONCERT THE DAMNED THINGS IN DE MELKWEG
NIEUWE SUPERGROEP MET LEDEN VAN FALL OUT BOY, ANTHRAX EN EVERY TIME I DIE GEEFT GRATIS SHOW OP 8 JUNI IN DE MELKWEG
Op dinsdag 8 juni treedt de splinternieuwe band The Damned Things met leden van Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die en Anthrax gratis op in de Melkweg in Amsterdam. De superband komt voor het eerst naar Nederland en is zo nieuw dat niemand hun muziek nog heeft gehoord. De line up van The Damned Things belooft veel goeds. Om het Nederlandse publiek kennis te laten maken met The Damned Things geeft de band een gratis concert. Een volledig album volgt later dit jaar.
The Damned Things bestaan uit Joe Trohman en Andy Hurley van Fall Out Boy, Keith Buckley van Every Time I Die en Scott Ian en Rob Caggiano van Anthrax. De combinatie van deze heren als The Damned Things is een van de meest opvallende samenwerkingen in de rock- en metalwereld van de afgelopen jaren.
De band kwam samen via een gezamenlijke vriend. Hoewel Scott Ian aanvankelijk wat terughoudend was om met Joe Trohman samen te werken, klikte het bij de eerste ontmoeting meteen en jamde de bandleden er al gauw lustig op los. Het eerste voorproefje is vanavond in de Melkweg te horen!
Scott Ian beschrijft The Damned Things als Kyuss meets Thin Lizzy. Ian: "It's super fun and it's something that we do totally take seriously because we love the music we've created. People think of Fall Out Boy and they think of Pete Wentz and Patrick. These two guys, man, they're fucking hardcore dudes. Joe writes some amazing riffs. We have this song called 'A Great Reckoning' that I swear to God, this song could be on any Thin Lizzy record. He fucking blew my mind with this song and I just can't wait for people to hear it."
Joe Trohman voegt toe: "Scott's right hand is the reason I got into playing punk rock, hardcore and metal! Having Keith as part of the mix is insane, we all know he writes incredible lyrics but he is also a really good singer. That is showcased in Every Time I Die, but we want him to go more into singing than screaming on this project." (bron:www.rocksound.tv)
