Your friendly local jazz cellar proudly presents the Ben van Gelder trio + Jasper Blom, Thursday 16 December.
Without exagerration, Ben van Gelder (21) is a musical prodigy and one of the most noteworthy young alto players in the world today. His lyricism is highly personal and precise, fuelled by a constant flux of ideas that constantly permutates - flowery figures fading in and out of Now. Catch 'em while you can. With Joost Patocka on drums and Clemens van der Feen on double bass, he has the rhythm-section to back it up. Saxophone colossus Jasper Blom, more than twenty years Ben's senior and himself a distinguished voice on the scene, will undoubtedly add an interesting contrast to the occasion with dexterous and imaginative maneuvers on tenor. Flashmobcinema will be there with a personal selection of the best jazz movies.
