Voor het project 'Quietly my Broadcast' nam kunstenaar Ruth Legg de Friese tv-zender Omrop Fryslân onder de loep - in het bijzonder de uitzendingen, de programmering en de taal van (post)productie van het programma 'Doch it foar dyn doarp' ('Doe het voor je dorp'). Het verzamelde onderzoeksmateriaal heeft zich uiteindelijk tot het derde en laatste videowerk binnen een driedelige serie gevormd, die op zaterdag 6 augustus in zijn geheel in SYB te zien zal zijn.
Legg heeft een activiteitenprogramma georganiseerd, waarbij zij kunstenaars en schrijvers vraagt om vanuit hun eigen praktijk te reflecteren op de onderzoeksthema's die Legg aandraagt. Als onderdeel van dit programma, getiteld 'A Soapbox and a Microphone', zal Ruth Legg in gesprek gaan met Rutger Emmelkamp. Rutger is beeldend kunstenaar, docent aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie en lid van de programmering commissie van SYB. Daarnaast verzorgt Legg een presentatie in samenwerking met Rebecca Harris (UK), een schrijver en onderzoeker aan de Goldsmiths University.
U bent van harte uitgenodigd om op zaterdag 6 augustus de drie videowerken te komen bekijken en bij de gesprekken en presentaties aanwezig te zijn.

For the project Quietly my Broadcast, artist Ruth Legg has used a residency at Kunsthuis SYB to take a closer look at the Frisian broadcasting corporation Omrop Fryslân - focusing in particular on the production of the programme Doch it foar dyn doarp (Do it for your village). The material collected by Legg has provided inspiration for a third and final video piece, which together with the other works in the series will be shown in SYB on Saturday August 6th. As part of her work period at SYB, Legg has organized a programme of events to take place on Saturday afternoons. Invited artists and writers have been asked to reflect on the research theme put forward by Legg and to relate it to their own practice. As part of this programme, entitled A Soapbox and a Microphone, Legg can be heard in discussion with SYB committee member Rutger Emmelkamp on 6th August. Legg will also do a presentation in co-operation with Rebecca Harris (UK), an author and researcher at Goldsmiths University.
