MEDIA ADVISORY: High Commissioner's Dialogue on Root Causes of force..

This is a summary of what was said by UNHCR spokesperson Adrian Edwards - to whom quoted text may be attributed - at the press briefing, on 11 December 2015, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
Next week, on 16 and 17 December, UNHCR is hosting the 8th High Commissioner's Dialogue on Protection Challenges at the Palais des Nations. This year's Dialogue will look at better understanding the root causes of displacement and how to address these. The Dialogue will bring together experts,
academics, government representatives and members of the NGO communities to discuss existing and new root causes of displacement and to chart away forward in preventing, addressing and resolving them.
On 16 December, the plenary session, with a keynote address by Arjun Appadurai, Professor in Media Culture and Communication and the Debate on Protection and Prevention, co -chaired by High Commissioner Guterres and the Emergency Relief Coordinator O'Brien will be open to the media and live
streamed. The thematic sessions which will start at 16:00 that day and end at 13:00 on 17 December are closed sessions. At 15:00, Plenary will resume with High Commissioner Guterres summing up the deliberations and conclusions of the Dialogue. This will be open to the media as well.
