The Netherlands ranked as IP leader - NLO

Dit bericht is alleen beschikbaar in het Engels. According to The Global Intellectual Property Index 5th Report (GIPI5) by law firm Taylor Wessing, the Netherlands is an IP leader. The report, released June 14, compares IP regimes in 43 jurisdictions based on their accessibility, ease of
enforcing rights and legal framework.
In this fifth edition the report covers all aspects of IP including patents, trademarks and copyright, as well as designs and data protection. The results are gathered from a worldwide survey of IP owners and users with more than 8,500 assessments and 61 objective factors. The report has added
seven new jurisdictions - Colombia, Egypt, Malaysia, Nigeria, Norway, Taiwan and Vietnam - since last year.
The Netherlands has taken top positition in overall rankings!
The UK tops the overall rankings for patents, followed by Germany (2nd) and the Netherlands is securing 3rd. "The Netherlands ranks very highly for patent enforcement and patent exploitation. Its specialist judges are highly valued, it is very cost effective and its practitioners are very
experienced."
The Netherlands also tops the copyright rankings, scoring well for enforcement of copyright and cost-effectiveness. It also scores well for its speed of procedures and consistency of decisions.
For designs, the European Community lies in first place, followed by Netherlands and Germany.
