De jaarcijfers 2001 van Koninklijke Brill NV zullen bekend worden
gemaakt op donderdag 21 maart 2002. Het jaarverslag 2001 van
Koninklijke Brill NV zal gepubliceerd worden op donderdag 25 april
2002. De Algemene Vergadering van Aandeelhouders zal gehouden worden
op dinsdag 14 mei 2002 om 14.30 uur in het Crowne Plaza Promenade
Hotel, Van Stolkweg 1 te Den Haag.

Operating result 0.7 million (+ 17%)
Net income 0.5 million (+ 24%)
Earnings per share 0.57 (+ 19%)
BRILL ACADEMIC PUBLISHERS ANNOUNCES INCREASE IN SALES AND RESULTS IN
THE FIRST HALF OF 2001.
Sales and results of Brill Academic Publishers increased in the first
half of 2001.
Sales grew to EUR 5.78 million (2000: EUR 5.44 million) and operating
income grew to EUR 0.66 million (2000: EUR 0.56 million). Net income
rose by 24% to EUR 0.46 million (2000: EUR 0.37 million). Earnings per
share improved by 19% over 2000, marking an increase to EUR 0.57
(2000: EUR 0.48).
Taking into account regulations concerning the amortization of
publication rights which came into effect in 2001, net income totals
EUR 0.41 million. This constitutes a 27% increase in relation to
comparable results in the first half of 2000 (EUR 0.32 million).
After payment of stock dividend, the number of shares outstanding
increased by more than 2%. For the whole of the year 2001, an increase
in sales and results is expected.

HALFJAAR 2001
LEIDEN - Omzet en resultaat van uitgeverij Koninklijke Brill
(wetenschappelijke uitgeverij) zijn in de eerste helft van 2001
toegenomen.
De omzet steeg tot EUR 5,78 miljoen (2000: EUR 5,44 miljoen) en het
bedrijfsresultaat tot EUR 0,66 miljoen (2000: EUR 0,56 miljoen).
Het resultaat na belastingen nam toe met 24% tot EUR 0,46 miljoen
(2000: EUR 0,37 miljoen). De winst per aandeel steeg ten opzichte van
2000 met 19% tot EUR 0,57 (2000: EUR 0,48).
Rekening houdend met de per 2001 geldende voorschriften ten aanzien
van de afschrijving van uitgaverechten bedraagt het resultaat na
belastingen EUR 0,41 miljoen, een toename ten opzichte van de
vergelijkbare uitkomst over het eerste halfjaar 2000 (EUR 0,32
miljoen) van 27%.
Het aantal uitstaande aandelen nam door de uitkering van stockdividend
met ruim 2% toe. Voor het gehele jaar 2001 wordt een toename van omzet
en resultaat voorzien.
