N.V. Twentsche Kabel Holding (TKH)
Trading update TKH 1e kwartaal 2004
. Omzet gestegen naar E 107,2 miljoen (1e kwartaal 2003: E 94,9 miljoen).
. Bedrijfsresultaat (EBIT) gestegen naar E 8,1 miljoen (1e kwartaal 2003: E 6,0 miljoen).
. Nettowinst gestegen naar E 5,0 miljoen (1e kwartaal 2003: E 2,3 miljoen).
Het resultaat kon in het eerste kwartaal 2004 verder verbeterd worden, ondanks de aanhoudend moeilijke omstandigheden in de bouw- en telecommunicatiesector.
De omzetstijging werd gerealiseerd door de Technische Handelsgroep en de Machinegroep. De omzet in de Kabelgroep lag op hetzelfde niveau als vorig jaar.
Het bedrijfsresultaat (EBIT) steeg in zowel de Technische Handelsgroep als de Machinegroep, terwijl het bedrijfsresultaat in de Kabelgroep een daling liet zien. Alle groepen droegen bij aan het bedrijfsresultaat.
Door een lagere belastingdruk en lagere financiële lasten nam de nettowinst meer dan evenredig toe.
De resultaatontwikkeling is in lijn met de vooruitzichten zoals gecommuniceerd bij de presentatie van de jaarcijfers in maart 2004 en in het recent gepubliceerde jaarverslag.
Op basis van het gerealiseerde resultaat in het eerste kwartaal 2004 kan worden verwacht dat het resultaat over het gehele jaar hoger zal zijn dan in 2003.

De activiteiten van TKH zijn geconcentreerd in drie groepen: de Technische Handelsgroep, Kabelgroep en Machinegroep.
De focus is gericht op het leveren van systeemoplossingen in de segmenten 'Telecom Solutions', 'Building Solutions' en 'Industrial Solutions'. Met toegevoegde waarde als advisering, ontwikkeling, samenstelling en levering van innovatieve totaaloplossingen op basis van specialistische kennis bereikt TKH haar doelstelling van optimale, oplossingsgerichte dienstverlening aan de klant.
Uitbouw binnen deze segmenten zal worden bereikt met een sterke nadruk op technische handelsactiviteiten (value added reselling). De Kabelgroep is actief als niche speler en verschuift het accent in toenemende mate naar oplossingen in de vorm van totaalsystemen, veelal ook in samenwerking met de Technische Handelsgroep. De Machinegroep richt zich met name op het segment 'Industrial Solutions' en is gespecialiseerd in de productie van bandenbouwsystemen voor auto's en vrachtwagens en geautomatiseerde flexibele producthandlingsystemen.
Een geïntegreerde aanpak van activiteiten en marktsegmenten benadrukt en borgt de samenhang binnen en tussen de groepen.
Continue aandacht voor onderzoek en ontwikkeling zorgt voor een producten- en dienstenpakket dat technologisch geavanceerde oplossingen waarborgt. Deze worden op de markt gebracht in met name Noordwest- en Oost-Europa. Tevens is er een groeiende marktpositie in Azië. Over 2003 behaalde TKH met 2.213 medewerkers een omzet van E 383,9 miljoen.

Trading update TKH 1st quarter 2004
. Turnover rises up to E 107.2 million (1st quarter 2003: E 94.9 million).
. Operating result (EBIT) rises to E 8.1 million (1st quarter 2003: E 6.0 million).
. Net profit rises to E 5.0 million (1st quarter 2003: E 2.3 million).
The results in the first quarter of 2004 improved further, despite the continuing difficult market conditions for the construction and telecom sectors.
The rise in turnover was realized in the Technical Trading group and Machinery group. Turnover in the Cable group stood at the same level as last year.
The operating result (EBIT) increased in both the Technical Trading group and the Machinery group, whereas the Cable group showed a decrease in operating result. All groups had a positive contribution to the operating result.
Net profit showed a disproportionate increase due to a lower tax burden and lower financing costs.
The development of the results is in line with the outlook which was communicated at the presentation of the annual results in March 2004 and in the recently published annual report. Based on the results realized in the first quarter 2004, it can be expected that the results for the full year 2004 will improve on the 2003 results.
