    MUNICH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2004--Siemens
(NYSE:SI)(FWB:SIE) and Juniper Networks today announced that they have
been chosen by BT Group, one of Europe's leading providers of
communications services, to participate in a trial deployment within
BT Group's recently-announced 21C network project.
The 21C (or 21st century network) project is a comprehensive
re-development of BT's network and related systems, which will
ultimately enable its consumer and business customers alike to
experience a wide range of accessible, feature-rich and cost-effective
communications services.
BT's trials will include Siemens' SURPASS hiG 1200 Trunk Gateway,
a carrier grade Voice over IP (VoIP) trunk media gateway, which
provides mediation between the core IP infrastructure of a next
generation network and the existing circuit-switched network. This
will provide BT with a smooth migration path to converged voice and
data network capability in an IP environment, helping to expand the
range of services and applications that can be supported on behalf of
its customers.
Siemens will also supply Juniper Networks' IP/MPLS routing
technology, which provides BT with sophisticated service convergence
and flexibility at the network edge and the capability to operate
multi-Terabit speeds within the core of the network, courtesy of the
T640 core router platform.
