Micrel Announces Lowest Crosstalk 2x2 Crosspoint Switch Solutions

Micrel Inc. (Nasdaq: MCRL), an industry leader in Power, Connect
and Protect IC solutions, today announced two new 2x2 ultra fast
crosspoint switch ICs, the SY58023U and the SY58024U. The ICs are part
of Micrel's high-speed, Precision Edge(TM) product line and are ideal
for demanding networking applications that require low jitter and high
crosstalk isolation between channels. The chips are currently shipping
in volume with pricing starting at US$11.90 in 1K quantity.
Stubs become a major source of jitter as speeds increase to
2.5Gbps and beyond. Micrel's new SY58023U/ SY58024U, designed with
internal termination, eliminate stubs resulting in unsurpassed jitter
performance in a streamlined, reduced space design. The chips are
optimized to provide two identical output copies with less than 20ps
of skew and ultra-low jitter and can route data up to 10.7Gbps. The
differential inputs include Micrel's patent-pending, 3-pin input
internal-termination architecture allowing direct interfacing to any
differential signals (AC-coupled or DC-coupled) using the termination
resistors inside the IC. The CML outputs feature 400mV swing into 50
Ohm loads, and provide an extremely fast rise/fall times guaranteed to
be less than 60ps.
Micrel has also created a patent-pending input isolation design
reducing jitter contribution from channel-to-channel crosstalk to less
than 0.7 psec (RMS). Internal termination and improved crosstalk
isolation, combined with a guaranteed 10.7Gbps AC performance over
voltage and temperature, make it possible for Micrel to offer the
industry's most advanced family of ultra-low jitter solutions.
