Margaret Hassan, een Iraakse ingezetene die voor CARE Australië als
landendirecteur in Irak werkzaam is, is vandaag (19-10-04) om 7:30 uur
lokale tijd in Bagdad ontvoerd. Omtrent het motief van de ontvoering
bestaat op dit moment nog onduidelijkheid. Voor zover wij weten, is
Margaret bij de ontvoering niet gewond geraakt.
Margaret is meer dan 25 jaar beroepsmatig werkzaam in de humanitaire
hulpverlening, waarvan de laatste jaren ten behoeve van het Iraakse
volk.
Uiteraard doen we alles wat in ons vermogen ligt om haar vrijlating te
bewerkstelligen. Op dit moment is het van onze kant onmogelijk meer
commentaar te geven. Onze primaire zorg is de veiligheid van
Margaret.

Margaret Hassan, an Iraqi national who is employed by CARE Australia
as CARE's Country Director in Iraq, was abducted in Baghdad at 7:30 AM
Baghdad time. As of now we are unaware of the motive for the
abduction. As far as we know, Margaret is unharmed. She has been
providing humanitarian relief to the people of Iraq in a professional
career spanning more than 25 years.
Needless to say, we are doing whatever we can to secure her
release. But equally, it would be unhelpful for us to comment further
at this time. Our overwhelming concern must be for Margaret's
safety.
