Gerhard Schröder Visits Leipzig - Teracue IP-TV Transmission of German Chancellor at Opening Ceremony of the BMW Leipzig Plant

The German chancellor Gerhard Schröder was invited by BMW to take part in the official opening ceremony of the BMW Leipzig plant. To make sure that all employees could follow the live event, the company used modern IP video transmission technology. For this occasion the plant's on-site video distribution was realized via a Video-over-IP system of Teracue AG.
Together with Teracue, BMW Leipzig achieved the live broadcasting of the event by using the existing internal network infrastructure. The analogue camera signals of the two-hour-long celebration were converted using MPEG-2 encoders and distributed on the network. The staff was able to follow the opening ceremony from two different sites. In the BMW Leipzig southern supply center, the video images were presented on a large screen display via a digital Set-Top-Box and a video projector. Inside a pavilion which had been setup especially for the occasion, staff members were able to follow the live ceremony on four plasma displays which were also connected to digital Set-Top-Boxes.
The BMW Group was looking for a simple solution for transmitting the event across the distance of almost 800 meters within the plant's premises, and chose Teracue's IP-TV system. Teracue met the requirements by providing a simple, secure and easy-to-deploy solution without technical complexity or the need for additional cabling.
