Otis Lands Record Order for Residential Elevators in China
FARMINGTON, Connecticut, December 13 /PRNewswire/ --
Otis, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), was awarded by renowned Chinese
construction firm Chixia Construction what is believed to be the largest single order for
elevators in Chinese history.
Chixia contracted with Otis to supply and install 450 elevators for eight luxury
residential high-rise housing projects in Jiangsu Province, an economically booming area
of eastern China with a population exceeding 65 million people. The largest real estate
enterprise in Jiangsu, Chixia has received international honors for its architecture,
decor, project management and attention to environmental considerations.

The elevators will be installed in buildings in Nanjing, Suzhou and Wuxi, all major
cities in Jiangsu Province. Each residential complex will be close to city amenities but
blend into its environment by incorporating gardens and greenbelts and by preserving tall
trees, forestland and historic sites, such as a section of wall in Nanjing dating back to
the Ming Dynasty. In Suzhou and Wuxi, residents will enjoy river, lake and forest views.
