FlyMe (Zweden) naar twaalf nieuwe bestemmingen in Europa
Nieuwe lowcost lijndienst Gotenburg - Amsterdam
De Zweedse lowcost luchtvaartmaatschappij FlyMe gaat vanaf 30 maart
volgend jaar tweemaal per dag een lijndienst onderhouden tussen
Amsterdam Schiphol en Gotenburg. De nieuwe route is onderdeel van een
omvangrijk uitbreidingsplan met 12 nieuwe bestemmingen. Het hele jaar
door zal worden gevlogen op Amsterdam, Parijs, Düsseldorf, London,
Praag, Rome, Nice, Alicante en Malaga. Op Palma, Rhodos en Kreta wordt
alleen in de zomer gevlogen.
Het Zweeds Verkeersbureau zal in verband met de opening van de nieuwe
lijndienst en de daardoor verwachte toename van het reizigersverkeer
naar Gotenburg volgend jaar allerlei speciale activiteiten gaan
ontwikkelen voor de toeristische promotie van deze tweede stad van
Zweden. 'Voor het toerisme naar dit deel van Zweden betekent de komst
van FlyMe zonder enige twijfel een forse impuls', zo verwacht
persvoorlichter Kadri Nieuwmans.

'FlyMe to offer daily low-fare flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to
Gothenburg, Sweden'
Swedish low-cost airline FlyMe will start flying twice daily from
Amsterdam Schiphol to Gothenburg as of March 30th, 2006. Flights are
scheduled in the morning and late afternoon, catering for the needs of
the business traveller.
The new route is a part of FlyMes expansion into Europe, with
Gothenburg as a hub for 12 new destinations. To be served all year
round are Amsterdam, Paris, Dusseldorf, London, Prague, Rome, Nice,
Alicante and Malaga. Services during summertime only extend to Palma,
Rhodos and Crete.
The flight schedule for Amsterdam will be as follows:

With a population of 500 thousand, Gothenburg is Swedens second
largest city, less than a two hours flight away from Amsterdam. The
city is host to the European Athletics Championships (EM) in August
next year. Gothenburg is renowned for shopping and culture, an
abundance of top notch restaurants and Liseberg, Scandinavias largest
amusement park. It is home to Volvos headquarters and is one of the
most popular congress venues in Northern-Europe.
FlyMe started operations in 2004, providing low-fare alternatives on
some of the most popular routes within Sweden and to Finland. The
airlines fleet consists of four B-737-300 airplanes, with one being
added before the new services start next year.
FlyMe has been warmly greeted by customers on its domestic routes. The
company enjoys a great reputation for punctuality and low ticket
prices, making it preferred for business travel. Soon after FlyMes
launch in March 2004, the Swedish government signed a contract with
FlyMe to be the sole supplier of government flights on the routes it
served.
