PC Tools ontvangt prestigieuze Virus Bulletin VB100 awards voor Spyware Doctor en PC Tools AntiVirus
De VB100 awards zijn in het leven geroepen om beveiligingsproducten die alle 'meest gevaarlijke' virussen tegenhouden te belonen. PC Tools ontvangt deze awards voor zowel Spyware Doctor als AntiVirus, terwijl gerenommeerde bedrijven als Microsoft, McAfee en Trend Micro tot nu toe niet in de prijzen zijn gevallen. Producten die door de test komen, mogen geen enkel 'vals alarm' geven bij het scannen van een verzameling schone bestanden.

PC Tools receives prestigious Virus Bulletin VB100 awards for Spyware Doctor and PC Tools AntiVirus
PC Tools has just received the IT security industry's prestigious VB100 certification from independent security bodyVirus Bulletinfor its Spyware Doctor and PC Tools AntiVirus products.
This rigorous certification process, which requires security products to detect every single one of many "in the wild" viruses thrown at it, has previously stumped major security vendors including Microsoft, McAfee, and Trend Micro. Products that pass this test must be able to do so without generating a single false alarm when faced with a set of clean files to scan.
The highly-publicized process can be embarrassing for security vendors who voluntarily submit their products for testing and only have one chance to pass. There is no retesting.
"We are proud to be certified by Virus Bulletin for these key products," said Simon Clausen, CEO of PC Tools. "This demonstrates how a medium-sized company can produce excellent products that meet tough industry standards."
"Virus Bulletin's VB100 is a cornerstone comparative review, and to receive two VB100 awards, with Spyware Doctor and PC Tools AntiVirus, first time around is a great achievement," said Clausen.
This award follows PC Tools recent acquisition of the behavioural anti-malware technology, Cyberhawk, which according to Clausen promises to make PC Tools' products even more effective against zero-day attacks.
PC Tools has also recently launched the highly effective Spyware Doctor 5.0, incorporating the newly certified anti-virus component. "We intend to continue refining our Internet security products to help consumers stay steps ahead of cyber criminals," Clausen said.
Current Spyware Doctor awards include: PC Magazine Best Anti-Spyware 2005, Editor's Choice 2006; Windows XP Magazine, Editor's Choice; PC Pro Recommended 2006, A List product; PC Answers Editor's Choice 2006; PC Advisor Gold award 2006; PC User 'Top Buy' 2006; Computer Shopper Best Anti-Spyware of 2006.
