Church Representation

According to Rev. Karin van den Broeke, president of the general synod, "the secretary is the representative face of the Protestant Church in The Netherlands, both inside the church and outside. The secretary guides the church spiritually and represents the Protestant Church in The Netherlands
in church relations and societal relations.

The Hague

De Reuver has been pastor of the Protestant Congregation of `s-Gravenhage - the official name of The Hague - in the Marcuskerk, which is located in the Moerwijk neighbourhood, since 2008. Before that, he was pastor in Sebaldeburen (in the province of Groningen) and Boskoop (in the province of
South-Holland). In 2004, he obtained the doctoral degree in Divinity at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam on a research into the theological value of church unity and diversity. In 2012, his book Anders Verder (Moving On Differently) was published, covering the issue of being church in a
dynamic environment.

Together

In his introduction speech, De Reuver highlighted that `Together' is a keyword to him. "Faith is personal, but never individual. It connects a human being with God and with each other. The church is the faith community that exists by the grace of this connection."

Plaisier

De Reuver is the successor of dr. Arjan Plaisier. The latter has been secretary of the general synod of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands since 2008. In June 2016, his term of twice four years will end. On June 10, 2016, Plaisier will step down.
