A system for congestion management in the Netherlands, assessment of the options

Planned electricity production capacity in the Netherlands has rapidly increased in recent years, especially in areas as Eemshaven, Maasvlakte and Westland. Since reinforcing the transport networks takes longer than building new production capacity, it is expected that generating capacity will exceed the available transmission capacity for some years, and that congestion will result. Accordingly, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has commissioned D-Cision and The Brattle Group to develop a national system of congestion management.
